The Pleasures are no half-assed glamrock band. Born of a love for all things outrageous and gender-transcending, this is the most exuberant, gaudy, arresting onslaught of glam n roll you could possibly imagine.
Founded in 2004 by Dancette (vocals/synths) and Lord (vocals/guitar), the Hamburg-based five-piece created an explosion of glitz and glamour from the very beginning. Now a tightly-knit crew fuelled by a shared passion and energy for flagrant glamrock and doing things their way, the guys describe the band as “pure life without limits”.
Priding themselves on their gregarious, trashy, gender-straddling image, they create wickedly infectious hardglamrock, oozing with addictive hooks, searing riffs and face-melting vocals. The voices of Dancette and Lord compliment each other radiantly, striking against the dramatic backdrop of thick, screeching guitars, booming bass and throbbing drums.
The Pleasures are a passionate, hard-working band, producing and engineering their own recorded material. Their first release came in June 2005; a five track EP entitled ‘Cuming Out’. Succeeded a year later by the 16 track debut album ‘Greatest Hits’, which sold out of its first few thousand copies within just six months. A single release in April 2007, ‘Some Like It Rock’, precedes the upcoming double album, ‘Oh Yeah’, which is set for release in late summer 2007.
Always with a string of shows - including international dates - lined up, the band are hell bent on spreading the pleasure as far and wide as possible. They easily secured themselves a strong fanbase in Germany, and boast support slots for the likes of Hanoi Rocks and the legendary T-Rex.
They embarked upon their first UK tour in July 2006, stunning a multitude of Brits with their mesmerising live shows and earning themselves a gaggle of brand new fans. An equally raucous and triumphant tour of Italy with Motorcity Brags followed in April 2007.
And a return to the UK in March 2008, as tour support for Patchwork Grace, proved a Herculean success as they truly captured the hearts of everybody at every show.
With each performance this band gets stronger, their following gets bigger, and the incandescent haze of glitter, make-up and fake blood that travels with them, infiltrates the hearts of all those in its path.
Plans are now afoot to storm Japan, Scandinavia and the U.S.
