Bev Walton-Porter's work has appeared in numerous publications since she turned full-time writer ten years ago.
Bev is co-author of "The Complete Writer: A Guide to Tapping Your Full Potential" (Red Engine Press, August 2005). Her book, "Sun Signs for Writers," was published by Writer’s Digest Books in August 2006. Her fiction book, "Mending Fences," was published under pen name Star Ferris in September 2006 by Whiskey Creek Press.
She teaches writing courses and publishes Scribe & Quill, an award-winning e-zine for writers. She is also co-founder of the International Order of Horror Professionals.
Bev is a client of the Meredith Bernstein Literary Agency in New York City.

What is your educational background? Are you currently in school?
Graduated high school from Widefield High School, attended Phillips University (Mass Communications/Psychology) and University of Colorado @ Colorado Springs (Applied Communications/Philosophy).

Describe your lifestyle and current relationship status:
I'm engaged to a wonderful guy named Paul who is a videographer and illustrator.

Do you have any vices (smoking/drinking/etc)? Describe:
Chocolate and coffee!

Do you have any "heroes" in your life or your work? Describe:
Stephen King, because he is honest and upfront in his approach to writing and writers; Neil Gaiman because he is the best example I've found of how a big-time author can still be grounded in his work and gracious to his fans despite his success. Finally, my fiance Paul and my kids, who are extemely supportive of me in everything I do.

What makes you happy? Why?
My family, pets, movies, music and writing.

Do you have favorite type of music? Favorite bands or singers?
I'm eclectic. I like rock, classical, alternative, goth, electronica and just about anything that is interesting and has a good beat. I don't care for country or gangsta rap too much, though.

What type of films do you enjoy? Please give some examples:
Comedies, horror, indie, drama. We own over 400+ DVDs and VHS movies at home, so we're BIG film fans!

Do you enjoy television? Which programs?
Don't watch much television, unless it's documentaries or Sci-fi channel. We are big fans of TAPS and Ghosthunters.

Do you like to read? If so, what books have you enjoyed recently?
LOL! Silly question. Yes, I'm a bibliophile and usually read five at a time.

NFL football occasionally - a big Denver Broncos fan.

Do you have any hobbies or other interests? Describe:
Love living near the mountains here in Colorado. Love camping, hiking, chilling out by a mountain stream. I used to do counted cross-stitch, but don't have much time for that now.

Where are your favorite places? Where would you like to go most?
LOVE Scotland! Love to travel and hope to go back to Europe and perhaps Greece, New Zealand, Australia and wherever else we can go!
