What is your current occupation? Do you enjoy it?
I work in "public safety"- that's the "professional" term for a rent a cop or a flashlight cop. (Did that for 25 years)
Now I'm a Central Alarm Station Operator and I love my job. Public service has always been rewarding for me. I used to be a fireman and I miss the heat and the excitement of that job.

What is your educational background? Are you currently in school?
I'm a highschool graduate with an almost completed degree in Criminal Justice (25 credits).
Currently I am out of the classroom. (May go back at some point)

Describe your lifestyle and current relationship status:
I lead a fairly easy, laid back lifestyle. Work, read, write, bowl and bike every now and then. My income level is now at a point in life where I'm able to enjoy some of the finer things in life- like vacations to far off lands (California and New York)
I am married to a lady I met on the "internets". Lou is from South Africa. She read a poem I wrote- "LIKE WIND IN YOUR SOUL"- and she married me in 2001 here in Minnesota. We have two cats.

Do you have any vices (smoking/drinking/etc)? Describe:
If a "vice" is an addiction- then I guess my life is a vice. Never had a drinking "problem" (They went down with no problem).
As far as I know- no "bad" habits only good ones...but then you'd have to ask some others about that- including my wife. LOL.

Do you have any "heroes" in your life or your work? Describe:
My Grand "Pop" was my hero and still is. (died in '79)
He was in Sing Sing prison for almost 30 years- yet he turned his life around, helped to raise me to be a responsible and respectful person and taught me the benefits of education and the right to vote.

What makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy? Hmmmm....so many things make me happy today.
It all comes from the fact that I suffered a severe depression for 3 years (1989-1992)- which was brought on by a mentally unhealthy self in my early years. (I'm writing a memoir about my "dark days")
I guess I'm just happy to be living- nothing really special comes to mind. I do like a nice long bike ride in the country where the only thing that propels you along is body and spirit.
So many simple things- as I get older- like watching birds feed on the feeders outside our window.

What makes you sad? Why?
Human nature makes me sad when I see people treating others unkindly, without an ounce of respect.
I see more of it today than in the past- it seems people have lost all meaning and understanding of "manners".

Name five (5) items you can't live without:
Food, water, a bed (to sleep), money and a roof over my head.
Would there really be anything else that would hasten the end of my life- if it was taken away? I don't think so- except my computer and my X Box. =O)

Describe your most "humbling" moment:
To realize the "treasures" in life when you are without a home.
When all you have to your name is a $5 bill- and you realize how thankful you are to have that.

Do you have favorite type of music? Favorite bands or singers?
All types of music are a "favorite" to me- depends on the song and it's lyrics.

What type of films do you enjoy? Please give some examples:
I enjoy adventures, scary movies and some comedies.
THE EXERCIST, THE GOOD-BYE GIRL, WIZARD OF OZ (All time favorite), CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.

Do you enjoy television? Which programs?
I'm not a huge television person. I mainly tune in the watch the news (CNN) and I'll catch a movie once in awhile....
And I will admit- AMERICAN IDOL is fun to watch.

Do you like to read? If so, what books have you enjoyed recently?
I do like to read. Recently I've enjoyed a crime series by Kent Krueger (Local Author) and of course- I LOVE- HARRY POTTER! What an amazing ending to that story!

Do you follow sports? Which teams are you interested in?
I like baseball but hockey has always been a sport that I love to watch.
I'm a "home town team" fan- I'll get excited for the Vikings- for a few moments. LOL.

Do you have any hobbies or other interests? Describe:
I do have hobbies. This computer is a hobby of sorts. Broadcasting Talk Radio is something I really enjoy. I'm also a magician (But haven't performed much in many years) and I like to ride my bike on long distant bike rides. (Need to get back into that)
Does reading fall into being a "hobby"?

Where are your favorite places? Where would you like to go most?
My favorite place is right where I live- in Minnesota.
There's a scenic spot in Stillwater, Minnesota- where I was married- Pioneer Park- which over looks the St. Croix River valley. It doesn't get any nicer than that! Especially in the fall of the year.
I've been to South Africa, The Caribbean and last year we went to San Diego and Vegas. I think I'd like to return to all of those places- at some point in my life.
