More on AFFIRMATIONS
(0 min.)
AspireNow is working on ways to bring affirmations into reality. What is it to just say you want to lose weight? Scott asks you to consider why affirmations work or do not work for you. Usually, it is because they are vague. Or, because there is no "truth mirror" involved. For example, a CEO might ask "why do I need a business coach?" But when you ask that CEO "Is your business plan any good?" Most will say, yes, I have a plan. When, in reality, their plan might be full of holes. It helps to have a truth mirror. This is probably the best value of a coach, to make sure you are focused, honest with yourself, and also asking BETTER QUESTIONS. Scott gives suggestions to ask WHY, HOW, and WHAT IF questions regarding affirmations. THEN add ACTION to the mix. When put to this additional scrutiny, affirmations are far more powerful.

What makes you happy? Why?
Looking up at the sky. Show God your pearly whites! It makes you feel happy, too! A natural prozac! Playing music, helping people. I read yesterday that children laugh 300 times a day. Adults laugh only 15 times a day, on average. Let's all laugh more. Laughing makes me happy.
|
What makes you sad? Why?
When people don't get it and self-destruct. Why waste our life? It's more precious than we realize.
Wasting time. Time is the one resource we can never get back. Mean people who can't figure out how to just love each other. OH, and Make LOvE not WAR!

Completely spacing-out and forgeting the notes to a song while playing live in an upscale jazz club in SF. Talk about flop-sweat! :)
