The world of Hip-hop is in for a treat...all the way from the sticks of KY comes a new voice that needs to be heard and a flow that can only be felt. Verb Linguist, or Verbal, is a true disciple of pre-'95 Hip-hop. Exemplifying the lyricism, deep-thought, and style of his predecessors, Verbal brings a much needed breath of fresh air to the rap game. He has been able to craft a style all his own while providing a voice for the intelligent but street folks of the world. His music is sprinkled with word-play and lyricism that will satisfy Hip-hop purist, while his street-oriented content and demeanor will keep the hood listening. With influences ranging from 'Pac, Ice Cube, and Scarface to Chuck D, Nas, Slick Rick, and Redman, this artist is sure to join the ranks of rap's elite. Verbal is a truly unique artist. He can give you politically-fueled commentary on society, he can get the thugs noddin their heads, or make the club jump-off. In his own words, "Its nuth'in!" Hailing from a relatively unknown part of the Hip-hop world, Verb is bringing KY to the forefront by reppin the best way he knows how, with straight bangers! His outlook on being from KY is "Good music speaks for itself, it don't matter where you from! Growing up as a military brat, I've lived all over. So I've seen how ni&&az put it down all over the map. And for the most part, these folks ain't bein represented. I'll keep it KY cuz that's my home, but there's folks all over this muphucka that ain't East coast, West coast, or Down South. Atleast not as far as those movements have been presented so far. So I'm just here to make good music and let the fans and the media sort all that other sh*t out!" Verbal has been writing lyrics since he was thirteen but didn't take rap music serious until he and a few friends from high school started cutting their own tapes at his boy's house. " Yeah we was basically puttin down some bullsh*t. It was real fun though. From the heart.," he says. Shortly after entering college at Kentucky State University, Verbal became a co-creator and founding member of a local indie label and eventually took over the reigns of the business for a couple of years as president. Eventually ending his seven year tenure with the indie label, Verbal decided to take his business acumen and talent and strike out on his own dropping the note-worthy street album/mixtape "The Bluegrass Conspiracy Vol. 1" with a local DJ. During this time and since then Verbal has performed at many shows and venues with notable hip-hop acts including Slick Rick, Lil' Wayne, Petey Pablo, Bobby Valentino, Juvenile, and Haystak! Verbal has also appeared in a few popular regional magazines like The Hole Magazine and KYStand Up Magazine. His music has been featured on several websites and the number of Verbal's admirers seems to grow by the day. Recently he has placed songs on albums in Germany and Sweden and has been growing in notoriety with the "underground" hip-hop set through his various connections with artists, producers, and promoters throughout the country. He is currently prepping his first official solo album titled "Rebirth" for an early '08 release. If his past work is any indication of whats in store, we all will be in for some top notch hip-hop. Now with a new focus, new vision, and a new team, Verbal is finally ready to step out on his own and show the world that "country ni&&az can rap too. It ain't all catchy hooks and trap music."
